Vanguard Logistics Opens Manchester Warehouse
4 August 2006 – London – Vanguard Global Logistics UK today announces the opening of its first European Vanguard warehouse. The new service center is located in Manchester's Trafford Park, ideally within 1000 yards of Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United Football Club. The facility has officially been operating since April of this year.
The primary aim for the service center is to provide a facility for receiving import containers which arrive into the port of Liverpool as well as house Vanguard's export operation for cargo which originates in the North of England. The service center is a key component of Vanguard operations given the majority of exports for Box Consolidators, (the newest addition to the OTS Logistics Group), originate in the North of England and cargo is handled strictly by local Vanguard staff.
More importantly, the Warehouse will improve the level of service offered to Vanguard's current import and export customers and will provide additional services not offered prior to operating an owned facility.
Ryan Murphy, Managing Director, Vanguard Global Logistics UK, comments, "Vanguard UK has secured a number of third party customers who support Box Consolidators on exports and Vanguard Global Logistics on imports. The operation of our new Manchester facility has led to significantly enhanced support for our export and import products."

Vanguard's UK operation has grown from 11 people, when Vanguard was introduced to the UK in May of 2004, to a staff of 50 as of April 2006. In addition to staffing increases, company import and export volumes have also seen drastic growth.
